People always tell me I sound like David Bowie. One time, as I was walking off stage down some steps at a club, I had just played THESE SONGS for an hour and a half, when some wide-eyed dude thought he was giving me a compliment and said, "man, you know what, you sound just like David Bowie." All I could do was to smile, shake his hand, say thanks, and walk on. Well, I guess I do take that as a compliment, he is one of my biggest influences, BUT, David Bowie didn't write these songs, and David Bowie didn't perform these songs, and they're not really in his genre (on purpose), AND they're not about his life. Thanks for the compliment though, he is great. One of the best performers to ever live.
My other influences include QUEEN, THE ROLLING STONES, Aerosmith, the Beatles, the Cars, the Pretenders, the Police, Roxy Music, the Eagles, Iggy Pop, the Sex Pistols, the Boomtown Rats, Elvis Presley, Tom Petty, the Psychadelic Furs, Crowded House/Split Enz, and Johnny Cash.
I was born in Canton, Ohio, The Football Hall Of Fame. I've heard that two other guys were born in the same hospital as me, Trent Reznor, and that Marilyn Manson dude. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio. I've lived in Germany. I lived in Malibu, California, for a while, and I've been living in San Francisco, California for the past decade. I dig it here.
Iggy, if you're reading this, next time you're in Columbus, jump off a stage dude. Be sure someone's there to catch you though, not just two fifteen year old girls. You are a wild one. The Godfather of PuNk. Balls to the wall, sir.
SOME DAY I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE ROLLING STONES AND AEROSMITH COME OUT WITH ALBUMS WHERE THEY DID EACHOTHERS' BIGGEST HITS. Just an idea guys.
